Description

215 drawings, two dated 1892, many from the early twentieth-century, particularly the 1910s and 1920s, and a large number from the 1980s.

From the early-twentieth century there are drawings concerning the underpinning and excavation of the Fallen Tower and east curtain wall, and from 1914 to the early 1930s, proposals for new public lavatories. Also in the 1920s are proposals for the Custodian's Cottage.

A photogrammetric survey from 1982 shows the keep, gateway and north and east curtain walls, and in 1985 and 1987 there are drawings of the cell block including improvements to it. There is also a topographical survey of the site from 1989. During the late 1980s some sheets showing the safety work that was carried out on the keep.

There is a group of seven sheets of drawings of number one Tower Street, adjacent to the castle, drawn by illustrator Colin Bamber in late 1997 and early 1998.

Among the most recent sheets are eight survey drawings of the cell block from 2014.

An oversized sheet shows wall graffiti made by a wartime conscientious-objector.
