Description

The survey was conducted between November 2000 and January 2001 by EH Cambridge Office as a result of a request made by Swift Ltd, to meet SAM consent conditions for recording, imposed as part of their conversion of the gun tower for domestic use.

The recording and investigation was initially confined to the basement level, where two identical artillery embrasures were to be broken out to enable access, and the roof level where a new building was to be added. More comprehensive investigation took place subsequently on the remainder of the tower and on the tunnels beneath it.
