6/136 Tomb chest of Robert Sherbrooke adjacent the east side of workshops in former wood yard of Oxton Hall

Tomb chest. 1710 and late C18. Ashlar and cast iron. Tomb chest is Robert Sherbrooke, d.1710. Shaped top. At each angle is a single engaged large vase moulding. Extending around the tomb are C18 spiked iron railings set on an ashlar plinth. At each angle and in the centre of the 2 longest sides are single railings topped with small urns with small orb finials. The Sherbrookes' seat was Oxton Hall. The tomb probably erected by a descendant. The tomb is sited in what was probably a Quaker burial ground.
