SD 91 NW LITTLEBOROUGH ROCHDALE CANAL 1/48 Lock No. 39 - II - Lock. Between 1794 and 1798. William Jessop engineer.

Hammer-dressed stone. Double upper gates and recesses for 2 sets of lower gates (to accommodate 2 barge lengths) neither of which exist and only one of which was ever fitted.

Winding gear remains. Retaining wall at lower end incorporates boatman's steps.
