HUSBORNE CRAWLEY BEDFORD ROAD SP 9536 10/21 Henry VI Cottage GV II
House. Thought to be C15 in origin. Altered C17. Eaves raised somewhat during C20 restoration. Substantial cruck-framed structure on plinth of coursed ironstone and brick. Mottled brick infill of various dates. Thatched roof, hipped at S end and formerly half-hipped to N, now gabled. 4-bay structure thought to have had originally a central 2 bay open hall. This ceiled over C17 and chimney stack inserted. Attics converted for use C20.
Ground floor has 2 2-light casements and one 3-light casement, all C20 dormers with similar casements. C20 part-glazed door under open hipped thatched porch. Some brick infill panels have diaperwork patterning. Red brick ridge stack.
