TM 03 NE HOLTON ST MARY B1070 (north east side) 2/5 - Mayfields - II Tudor Croft on O.S. map. House. Probably early C17 with later C17 rear additions and later alterations. Timber-framed with some painted brick casing, plain tile roof, red brick stacks. 2 storeys. Front range of 4 bays with inserted central stair hall, probably originally lobby entry, with 3 gabled cross ranges to rear, that to left extended further. 6-panel door with top 2 panels glazed under C20 gabled porch on brackets. Flanked by 2 C20 casements, 16-pane sash in flush architrave to right. Left bay underbuilt in brick. 1st floor C20 sliding sashes and top-hinged casement to left. Swept roof, hipped to left. Stack off-centre to left and further large offset external stack with saw-tooth corniced shafts to right gable end. Rear: 3 gabled cross wings of similar proportions, that to left extended with lower range. Interior: much framing exposed including jowled posts, studded walls, some down braces. Inglenooks with chamfered bressummers to both stacks, somewhat rebuilt. Chamfered beams with curved stops, exposed joists to part. 2 C18 pilastered corner cupboards with keyed round arches and shaped shelves. Clasped purlin roof.
