Farmhouse, now house. C17 or earlier, altered, enlarged in C18, with loomshop added to this part. Coursed-sandstone rubble with quoins, stone slate roof with 2 brick chimneys. T-plan: partly cruck-framed 2-bay range on north-south axis, with 2-bay wing added to centre of west side, loomshop added to rear of this. Two storeys; present entrance front is C18 wing, which is symmetrical, with central doorway in line with ridge chimney and two 3-light windows on each floor, all formerly sliding sashes with glazing bars but the lower altered as casements. Older part, forming right crosswing, has on each floor of the gable wall an altered 3-light mullioned window with hoodmould (upper lacking mullions) and now a 2-light casement; right return wall has a low plinth with cruck padstone, evidence of a ragged vertical joint between the bays, a shallow crude buttress to each bay, a blocked round-head light with hoodmould to the rear of the joint, a small square inserted window to the 2nd bay and a 4-light chamfered flush mullion window above, a little square window under the eaves, and a side wall chimney to the 1st bay; rear gable has a 3-and a 5-light chamfered flush-mullion window at ground floor (each lacking one mullion, both with hoodmoulds) a hoodmould to a former window at 1st floor, and a cut-down square chimneystack at the west corner. Very large full-height lean-to with catslide roof, projecting beyond the wing, and covering the rest of the rear, has a door and otherwise continuous multiple-light mullioned loomshop window, some lights blocked. Interior: older part contains full cruck truss with low tie-beam, collar (severed for doorway), and yoke, trenches for purlins of formerly steeper roof; ground floor of front bay has 2 lateral 1/4-round-moulded beams with tongue stops and cyma stops, stone fireplace with humped lintel (lower part covered by modern fireplace); rear bay has another beam immediately behind the cruck tie-beam, supported on a moulded stone corbel, and 2 chamfered beams, one with post mortices in the soffit; upper floor of rear bay is lower; former cross-corner fireplace removed to make doorway. C18 part has back-to-back fireplaces, one with corbelled jambs. Note: cruck-framed part may be surviving crosswing of former open hall.
