CASTLE CARY CP HIGH STREET (North side) ST6432 6/73 Lush, the butchers, and attached house GV II House and shop. Probably early C19. Cary stone near-ashlar; plain clay tile roof with coped gable to west, abutment to east; brick chimney stacks. Two storeys with attics, 3 bays. To bay 1 a 2-storey angled bay window of 2+6+2-pane sashes, under lead flat roof; to bay 2 a 12-pane sash window above, and similar windows, paired, to both levels bay 3, all set in voussoired flat-arched openings; to lower bay 2 a glazed door set in an architrave with pediment hood on console brackets; late C20 hipped dormer windows to each bay. Interior not seen, One metre in front of building cast-iron railings consisting of three horizontal rods carried by cast posts at about one metre centres, with gap to doorway and return at east end, adding to setting of building and forming important streetscape element.
