6/38 Lyefield Farm House 11/11/66 II

Hall house. Early C16 with C17 extensions to left and C19 alterations, further C20 extensions to rear. Timber framed on sandstone rubble plinth with C19 red and blue brick below, good quality fishscale tile hanging above and plain tiled roofs, hipped with gablets to right. T-shaped plan with 3 bay hall house to right at right angles to lane, C17 range to left oversailing the roof. Two storeys, the C17 build of tall proportions. Multiple stacks to right of centre at junction of two builds, further stacks to ends. Regular front:- two 3-light, C19 leaded casement windows across the first floor, two windows below, that to left 4-light and that to right under a gauged brick head. One 3-light leaded window on each floor of the gabled wing, spike finial to gable above. Large window on ground floor under cambered head. Part-glazed,ribbed door to right of centre under flat hood on brackets. Framed pentice to left end with rubblestone front wall. Rear - gabled wing at right angles, older range to left. Right hand return front:- 3 bays with brick dentil band over ground floor. Irregular fenestration including gabled dormer.

Interior:- braced crown-post in older range to right, close-stud framing to bay at junction with front.
