Description

This information is taken from the statutory List as it was in 2001 and may not be up to date.

SD 9749 CARLETON BECKSIDE

10/44 Robyns Hall

II

House, probably later C17. Rubble with stone slate roof. Two storeys. Quoins.

The windows are double chamfered stone mullion windows 2 of 3 lights above and one of 4 (damaged) below with hoodmould. This window stands between a C19 doorway near the left hand gable and a doorway with slightly arched lintel, which now adjoins a building of later C19, (which is itself not included in the item but may have obliterated part of Robyns Hall). The rear wall is almost featureless but swells out to accommodate a spiral stair which may survive; there is said to be a segmental-arched fireplace with joggled voussoirs.
