Description

This information is taken from the statutory List as it was in 2001 and may not be up to date.

SOUTH BRENT BRENT MILL SX 65 NE

9/73 Brent Mill Bridge - - II

Road bridge over River Avon. C17 or C18 pack-horse bridge widened on north side circa C18. Granite rubble with dressed granite arches. Large round main arch with smaller flood arch to west, both recessed have recessed arch rings. Parapets with chamfered granite coping. One later cutwater on both upstream and downstream sides with refuges in parapet above. James Green, country surveyor recorded the bridge in 1809 as it is today, therefore the widening is probably C18 and the bridge may be C17.
