LOWER HOLKER CARK-IN-CARTMEL SD 3676 9/141 Cark House 25.3.70 G.V. II C Farmhouse. Datestone to rear outshut reads: "T A/1689", but front range is late C18. Stone rubble, probably originally roughcast, with ashlar dressings and slate roof. 3 storeys, 5 bays. 1st floor sill band, cornice and moulded gutter; quoins, part to left hand end breaks back. Windows have stone surrounds with projecting edges and are sashed with glazing bars. Central entrance has Tuscan columns, frieze and pediment; half-glazed panelled door. Gable-end stacks and cross-axial stack. Rear has outshut under catlside roof with sashed windows with glazing bars and horns. Right return has entrance with moulded reveals and embattled lintel with date. Recessed bay to left with left hand end breaking back. Interior not inspected.
