CASTLE COMBE MARKET PLACE ST 8477 (west side) 6/120 Market Cross Cottage (formerly listed as house 15 yds 20.12.60 north of Reading Room Cottage) and War Memorial

GV II

House, c1800, rubble stone with stone tiled roof and end wall stacks. 2 storey, 2-window range of flush 2-light unmoulded mullion windows with sashes. Central door in flush doorcase. Rear range is earlier cottage, heightened and altered. Attached to south side is early C19 Gothic screen wall, apparently designed to close a view, an ogee stone arch with ball finial adjoining Market Cross Cottage and length of coped wall to a tall moulded pointed arch with plain impost blocks, infilled with ashlar walling converted to village War Memorial.
