Formerly known as: Raven Hotel WIDEMARSH STREET. House, now shop. Early C18. Painted brick; hipped plain tile roof with gable to front; central brick stack and stack to right rear. Central staircase plan. 3 storeys and attic; 5-window range: 2/2 sashes in moulded cases under gauged brick flat arches; 2/2 sashes over; central (3 window) section protrudes under gable roof, with storeyband and pediment. C20 shop fronts with central and right-hand return doorways. Gable wing to right rear has single 6/6 sash under segmental arch; brick modillion eaves; part-glazed door, to right, with plain overlight and rendered reveals, set in brick pointed arch; C20 window to left under segmental arch. To rear: brick stack; hipped gable to left rear with 2 storey Gothick-glazed pointed arch. INTERIOR: late C18 open-well staircase with turned balusters and acorn finials to turned newels; C19 winder stair to 2nd floor of rear wing. 2nd floor: C19 fireplace, and mantel; C18, 2-panel doors; bolection-moulded fireplace; wall cupboard; C19, 4-panel door; C18, 3-panel door. 1st floor: C19 plank door; late C19 fireplaces; C19 panelled door; C19, 6-panel door; C18 shouldered fire surround; C18, 2-panel door; C18 round-headed architrave and door to stairwell; large C18 Gothick-glazed window with quatrefoil head, to rear; skirting-board; C18, 3-panel doors; C18 fire surround. Ground floor: late C18 ceiling cornice. Plaque: site of the birthplace of David Garrick, AD 1716.
