BOURNE HILL 1.

1594 Walls either side of entrance to gardens separating them from forecourt of Council House SU 1430 SE 2/336B II 2.

Early to mid Cl8 red brick wall, 3 bays next to house, one bay only surviving to south of garden entrance. Section nearest house has 3 ashlar piers, the string and plinth returned from house, and breaking forward over piers. Block caps to piers, formerly surmounted by urns (remains of pedestals). The stone coping swept up to taller gate pier. Similar section of wall with gate pier but of one bay only the other side of entrance. Of the gates only the wrought iron standards remain attached to the gate piers, panel with circle, scrolled finials.
