TG 2208 NE ST. GILES STREET (north side) 15/755 26.2.54 No. 35 GV II* Former house, now shop and offices with C15 undercroft. Shop and offices:- late C16/early C17 street range remodelled and heightened in the C18. Later C18 parallel rear range and long block at right- angles. Red brick and black pantile roof 3 storeys plus cellar to rear range. 4 bays to street range. Fine C19 shopfront with off-centre door that reflects the C18 entry arrangement. Sash windows with glazing bars and rubbed brick flat arches at first floor and bottom- hung casements with glazing bars at 2nd floor. Block modillion cornice.

Interesting interior arrangement with open-well stair at rear, right- hand side having turned balusters and carved brackets. This leads to a first floor back room with very find C18 panelling over door and mantel carving and plaster ceiling. Undercroft:- Brick. 2 irregular bays at right-angles to the street line. Single-order diagonal ribs with additional radiating ribs to accommodate door and window openings.

Wall arches and lighting niches in the south bay. The building is graded II* for the undercroft with forms part of an important group within the City Walls and for the C18 carving and plasterwork.
