885 RAYNE ROAD (North Side) St Michael's Hospital TL 7523 6/81 II

Formerly the old workhouse, built in 1837. A red brick building now with C20 wings on the east and west ends. 3 storeys. 5 window range. The centre part, of 3 window range, breaks forward slightly. The windows have double-hung sashes with glazing bars, in plain reveals. (The outer. windows on the ground storey have casements. ) The ground and 1st storey windows have semi-circular brick arched heads and the ground storey and centre 3 windows on the 1st storey have keystones. A central doorway with a semi-circular fanlight with ornamental glazing bars has a wood doorcase. with plain columns and. a dentilled cornice . Roof slate, hipped.
