REDRUTH PENRYN STREET SW 64 SE (east side) 11/288 Nos.6 and 8 GV II Pair of shops with dwellings over. Early to mid C19, altered. Probably cross-wall construction with stone cross walls and slate-hung facade on timber stud framework. Rectangular plan, each element double-fronted. Three storeys and 2+2 bays; ground floor occupied by double-fronted shop windows and doorways to the dwellings coupled between them; both have recessed shop doorways, but No.6 is slightly wider and has tall 3-light windows with slender shafts (the tops of the windows covered by a modern fascia board), while No.8 has narrower windows of 2 slightly arched lights mounted on plinths, and consoles to the cornice over the fascia; all doors are altered except that to the dwelling entrance of No.6, which is panelled. The upper floors have vertical strips of darker slates at the corners and in the centre and a band of fish-scale slates immediately below the projected eaves, 4-pane sashed windows at 1st floor, and 12-pane sashes at 2nd floor, all with exposed boxes. Gable chimneys. (The item forms a group with No.4 to the left and the return wall of No.1 Station Hill to the right - q.v.)
