GV II

Public house with malt loft and skittle alley, now private house and pottery. Circa early to mid C19, converted to private house in circa 1939. Stone rubble with granite quoins. House has a rag slate roof with gable ends and brick end stacks.

Malt loft to right has brick stack on right hand gable end. Single storey range to right, originally the skittle alley with slate roof with gable ends.

Plan: House on left of double depth plan with central entrance; bar originally in left hand room heated by end stack with smaller bar to rear. Living room on right and kitchen to rear right, both heated by end stack. Stair to rear of passage and rear door offset. 2 storey range to right of 1-room plan forming an obtuse angle with the front elevation of the house; ground floor heated by an end stack with cloam oven to front right and originally boiler to rear right. Malt loft on first floor heated by end stack with loading door on front elevation. Single storey range further to right, rectangular-on-plan, originally the skittle alley with a raked floor, now part of the pottery.

Exterior: 2 storeys. Overall 3:3 window front with symmetrical 3-window front of house on left. 2 C19 sashes with margin glazing bars flanking C19 panelled door and three 16-pane sashes, the left hand sash without horns. Range to right canted at an obtuse angle with an asymmetrical 3-window front; C19 2-light casement and part glazed door on ground floor. First floor with two 16-pane hornless sashes and central loading door replaced by a C20 glazed door with gabled slate hood above.

Single storey range to right.

Interior: House has C19 ceiling beams and slate flag floors. Left hand room with large granite lintel and chamfered jambs to fireplace. Bar to rear has simple till surviving insitu. Right hand room with granite lintel and jambs to fireplace and kitchen to rear right with large dressed granite lintel. Floor of skittle alley altered.
