LONG SUTTON CP KNOLE CAUSEWAY (South side) ST42NE KNOLE 6/171 Ciderpress Farmhouse (formerly listed as Higher Knole Farmhouse) 17.4.59 GV II

Farmhouse. Probably C16, reshaped C18. Local lias stone cut and squared; Welsh slate roof between stepped coped gables, hipped forward projection; brick end and intermediate chimney stacks. 'L'-plan; 2 storeys, 5 bays, of which bay 1 is a 2-bay projection. C20 casement windows throughout, of 2 and 3 lights; to lower bay 4 a flush-panelled door in heavy frame; timber lintols to all openings in main block, concrete lintols to extension. Single-storey lean-to east of projection. Interior not seen, but reported are wide stone fireplaces, deep chamfered beams, some C18 features, and a suspected cob wall.
