Description

Leighton House was built to the designs of the architect George Aitchison, and the Bedford Lemere daybook records that this photograph was taken for Sir Frederic Leighton (Lord Leighton), the owner and occupier of the house.

The paintings displayed on the easels include Leighton's 'Lachrymae', 'The Maid with the Yellow Hair' and the famous 'Flaming June'.
