Description

The recess tomb has also been identified as an Easter Sepulchre. It is believed to be the tomb of one of the Deans of Crediton Collegiate Church. The vault, face, and frieze bear the remains of original colouring. The carved figures projecting from the frieze depict scenes from the life of Christ, including the Adoration of the Magi and the Ascension of Christ.
