Description

The carved tablet on the south wall of the south chapel, or Lady Chapel, was found beneath the church floor in 1846 during renovations, and was possibly originally part of a reredos. Suggestions for the scene it depicts include St Thomas resigning his see, St Thomas meeting Pope Alexander III, and of a Pope inauguratiung a bishop.
