The current house is an early 17th century rebuild of a 16th century house. It was divided in the 18th century and was restored in the 19th century. The house is situated on Minster Yard, north-east of York Minster. The fireplace has Ionic columns that support a frieze and cornice that turn out at eac end. In the centre of the cornice is a small pediment. Above is an overmantle, with a gold sculpture of Leda and the Swan stood in an oval niche. Above is a scrolled pediment. Leda and the Swan is a Greek myth.
The house is now cared for by the National Trust.
