The collection comprises photographs, negatives, transparencies, slides and files compiled by architect and architectural photographer Christopher John Neale Dalton (1941-2008).
The collection relates primarily to churches and Dalton's work with the Redundant Churches Fund and Churches Conservation Trust. Occasional secular buildings such as railway stations, and country houses are also represented. Coverage is mainly English but there are images of buildings in Wales, Scotland, Gibraltar and Denmark. The images are mainly black and white and provide interior and exterior views.
Christopher John Neale Dalton (1941-2008) was a professional photographer who contributed work to the Royal Commission on Historic Monuments (England), the Redundant Churches Fund and its successor, the Churches Conservation Trust. He was employed by photographer Donald Insall in the 1970s and became a member of Hereford Diocesan Advisory Committee in 1987 becoming the chairman of the committee in 1996.
The collection was acquired by The English Heritage Archive between 1996 and 2013.
