Tomb of Abraham Smith, Hammersmith Cemetery, Margravine Road W6 - Hammersmith and Fulham

White marble monument with a tall, enriched cross surmounting a rubble-carved base circa 1923, by CJ Jordan & Son, Acton, dedicated to a gold prospector. The surface of the marble is suffering considerable decay and soiling, leading to a loss of detail, and the monument is also leaning significantly. A full condition survey has been undertaken to inform future repair works and advice sought from a structural engineer; consent has been obtained from the Diocese for further investigations. The Local Authority, Historic England and Friends of Margravine Cemetery are exploring funding options.
