Temple Mill, Marshall Street, Holbeck - Leeds
One of the great monuments of the Industrial Revolution, built for James Garth Marshall. Designed by James Coombe and built between 1836 and 40, Joseph Bonomi advised on the design of the Egyptian facade. It fronts a brick-vaulted spinning mill with circular roof lights. Failure of a tie bar has caused the collapse of two front bays. Repairs to the Counting House are being undertaken with Historic England grant. Proposals for the full repair of the buildings are under development. It is intended that the building will be used by the British Library.
