Gun Room, Wentworth Castle, Stainborough - Barnsley

Probably built as a banqueting house or a bath-house, the interior has exceptionally fine plasterwork. It was used as a gun room in the C19. Repairs to the walls and temporary repairs to the roof were completed in 2007, but a further phase of conservation is required to the interior which is in very poor condition. The management of the site has been taken over by the National Trust and some further repairs to the exterior are proposed.
