Pedestrian subway under Crystal Palace Parade, Crystal Palace SE19 - Bromley

The Subway was designed by Charles Barry Junior and opened in 1865. It provided a direct link from his High-Level Station (demolished 1961) into the Crystal Palace via a ticketing hall and the spectacular diaper brickwork of the subway vaulting. Historic England is providing grant aid for an extensive repair project, including a new roof for the ticketing hall, funded primarily by the Greater London Authority's Strategic Investment Pot, with support from the Friends of Crystal Palace Subway. Repairs commenced in summer 2022 and are due to complete in late autumn 2023.
