Chestnuts House, 398, Hoe Street E17 - Waltham Forest
Substantial detached house of circa 1745-7 in stock red brick with red dressings. Elaborate stucco interiors survive along with original panelling and cornices. The house fell out of use several years ago and has since been occupied by live-in guardians. Emergency repairs to the roofs and rainwater goods have addressed the worst of deterioration and water ingress with further recent investment in the building through the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme. The Local Authority continues to develop plans for the repair and re-use of the building through funding from the Levelling Up Fund.
