Paull Point Battery, coastal artillery battery and Submarine Mining Establishment, Paull - East Riding of Yorkshire (UA)
A gun battery was established in 1542 and rebuilt in 1807. The present large complex was built in 1861-4 and remodelled in 1894. It was designed to defend Hull and the Humber. Earthen banks enclose a vast irregular pentagon parallel with the Humber with long brick-built, single-storey barrack blocks on the north side. The buildings are deteriorating, with significant water ingress through the flat roofs and the earthen ramparts are overgrown. The site has recently changed hands.
