Poplar Farmhouse, Brome and Oakley - Mid Suffolk

Two-storey farmhouse, timber framed and plastered with a thatched roof. Main range built c1400 with late C16 cross-wing, forming T-shape plan. Rare single-ended Wealden form, and very rare combination of queen posts and king posts to roof. Part of roof structure, some walls and parts of the interior destroyed by accidental fire in April 2016. Consent for a programme of repair, with demolition of some less historically significant and badly damaged parts of the building has been granted but this has not yet been implemented.
