Parish Church of St Andrew, St Andrew's Place, Penrith, Penrith - Westmorland and Furness Council (UA)

The parish church of Penrith has a red sandstone rubble west tower built in the C12 and C13. The remainder of the church was rebuilt in 1720 in red sandstone ashlar. It has been restored several times, most recently in 1972 when worm-infested roof timbers were removed. The roof is almost flat, and efflorescence around the parapets indicates the parapet gutters are failing. Failing downpipes have led to staining of the walls and inside there are many patches of damp, with peeling plaster, some of which have been repaired.
