Calvary Charismatic Baptist Church (former Trinity Methodist Church), including attached hall and church rooms, East India Dock Road, Poplar E14 - Tower Hamlets
The church, hall and offices, arranged collegiately, were built in the 1950s as part of the live architectural phase of the 1951 Festival of Britain, which was the first stage of the post-war rebuilding of the heavily damaged Lansbury Estate. The church architects were Cecil Handisyde and D Rogers Stark and the consulting engineer Felix Samuely. Historic significance is being re-assessed. The roof, domed roof lights and exposed concrete frame were repaired in 2017 with a grant from Historic England. CCBC is in discussion about a further phase of repairs to the church and the tower.
