900 year old former nunnery set in rolling parkland and gardens on the edge of Northampton Town Centre but within easy access of the M1 and other major road networks. Once featured on the Heritage at Risk Register, the Abbey has now been partially restored and includes a suite of newly conserved and re-presented fine rooms, a stable block exhibitions and interpretation space and a series of partially conserved rooms for visitors to walk round and enjoy. There is also the Orangery café and Billiard Room serving breakfast, lunches and afternoon teas, 7 days a week, a shop, a community learning space and facilities for weddings, events, meetings and functions.

Opening Arrangements

The grounds of the Abbey are open 24-7 with access to the Walled Garden operating between the hours of 10am and 2pm 7 days a week. Alongside this the Orangery is open 7 days a week, 9:30am-5pm; the Billiard Room is open Thursday-Saturday, 6pm-11pm. General admission outside of group bookings operates on a Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, 10am-3pm, with use of the site for events, meetings and group bookings.

  • Other Charges: We have offered 7,500 households that are within Delapre, Far Cotton and Briar Hill free entry.

The parkland is accessible on foot 24 hours a day. Vehicular access is restricted between 9pm and 6am.
