Two headstones in churchyard, Worth Matravers, Dorset

These two headstones to Benjamin and Elizabeth Jesty are in the churchyard of the Church of Saint Nicholas. Benjamin Jesty died in 1816 and his wife Elizabeth died in 1824. The headstone to Benjamin Jesty is inscribed "The first person known that introduced the Cow Pox by inoculation". This pre dates the work of Edward Jenner.
