Torquay Marina, Torbay
Although now an integral part of the English Riviera's leisure and tourism industry, Torquay Marina played an important part in the Normandy Landings during World War II. Thousands of Allied soldiers embarked from two concrete slipways adjacent to Beacon Quay in June 1944.
