The Almshouses, Bishop Auckland, Durham

These 4 almshouses in the Market Place have been divided into two. They were built for Bishop Maltby in a Tudor style. The plaque on the left gable reads; JOHN COSIN BISHOP OF DURHAM AD 1662; The right plaque reads; ENLARGED BY EDWARD MALTBY BISHOP OF DURHAM AD 1845.
