Sytchampton Endowed School, Ombersley, Worcestershire

Sytchampton Endowed School, dated 1826. There is a datestone, shaped like a sarcophagus on which is inscribed: "AD 1729/ CHARITY SCHOOL HOUSE/ FOUNDED BY RICHARD LLOYD/ OF COMHAMPTON IN/ THIS PARISH/ YEOMAN/ REBUILT 1826". This school, and the former schoolhouse in Ombersley Village were both founded under the name of Richard Lloyd's Charity, Richard Lloyd having assigned money and lands in his will to establish an Educational Trust to educate the children of the parish whose parents were assessed at less than £5 per annum.
