Royal Greenwich Observatory, Herstmonceux, East Sussex

The Royal Greenwich Observatory moved to Herstmonceux after the war as pollution and street lighting were impinging its work at Greenwich. It has now moved to the top of a volcano in the Canaries, where the earth's magnetic field is very low, providing minimal disturbance for hypersensitive modern equipment.
