R Haycock Grocers Store, Cox's Lane, Hellidon, Northamptonshire

The 'cash supply store' in Hellidon was probably photographed in the late 1890s. The local shop sold a variety of items and was often one of the main foci of village life. As transport and distribution of goods improved so shops became more specialised, leading to the gradual demise of the village store over the last 100 years.
