Pump on Verge, Southminster, Essex

This village pump was built in 1832 by the engineer John Richmond. Of importance as the only known identifiable casting of the Richmond Foundry and one of only 2 obelisk shaped survivors. There is a moulded inscription on the pump that states: "Erected by The Governors of The Charter House, March 1832, and, Richmond and Son Engineers, Chelmsford".
