Ploughing, Marple, Greater Manchester

Two men ploughing in the Goyt Valley. One leads the heavy horses while the other guides the plough. This method of ploughing had been used for over 100 years. However it was already quite old fashioned in 1903. Steam ploughing engines were introduced in the early decades of the 20th century.
