Ironbridge Gorge, Shropshire
Many of the buildings that grew up around either end of the bridge have been demolished over the 20th century, leaving the bridge in apparent isolation from the surrounding structures. The region was already heavily industrialised, but it was the construction of the bridge that brought many people to the area.
