Dorking General Hospital, Dorking, Surrey
This building was originally the Dorking Union Workhouse. It was built in 1840-1841 to accommodate 250 people. The building was unusually stylish compared with other workhouses. In 1930 the workhouse became Dorking Public Assistance Institution. Then Dorking County Hospital. In 1948 the National Health Service took control and renamed it Dorking General Hospital.
