House, C17, with extensive C19 and C20 alterations and additions. Coursed blue
lias rubble and brick with ashlar and brick dressings, steep pitch pantile roof,
coped gables, brick eaves and balustrades, 3 gable stacks; much C19 and C20
addition at rear. 2 storeys plus garrets, 3 windows, L-plan. West front has
off-centre C19 squared rubble porch with coping, panelled reveal, containing
C19 half glazed door, flanked by single C19 glazing bar bashes with stucco heads
above, 2 C19 glazing bar sashes and one C18 glazing, bar sash, all with stucco
lintels; above, C19 glazing bar sash in gable, with stucco lintel. South front,
2 storeys, 3 bays, has C20 2 light glazing bar glazed door flanked to west by
2 C20 glazing bar fixed lights in segmental heads; above, 2 C19 6 pane mullion
and transom casements with stone sills. Servants' wing to east, 2 storeys,
one bay, has off-centre C20 panelled door, flanked to east by C19 6 pane mullion
and transom window in segmental head with stucco lintel; above, cross-eaves
gabled dormer with 9 pane mullion and transom casement. Single gable stack.
Single storey lean-to extension to east has single C19 3 pane mullion and
transom casement with segmental head, and C19 close boarded door. Garden
wall to east, brick, C19, 2½M high, approx. 45M long, 8 bays, brick coping,
curved ramp to chamfered opening with segmental head. At rear, extensive
C19 and C20 extensions with flat and pyramidal pantile roofs; of no special
interest. Outbuildings: barn, C18, coursed blue lias rubble and brick,
C20 pantile roof with coped gables, brick and stone dressings, 3 bays, single
storey with loft over. Central C20 close boarded garage doors flanked to west
by C19 2 light leaded casement with timber mullion and to east by similar window
in segmental head. Stable, C19, coursed blue lias rubble and brick, C20
hipped pantile roof, dentillated eaves, single storey with loft over.
Boundary wall, C19, coursed blue lias rubble with rubble coping, approx. 2M high
falling by ramp to 1½M; approx. 80M long. Extends along south side of Low
Street. Five corbelled brick piers with early C19 wrought iron carriage
gates and matching wicket. The boundary wall and gates are important to the
street scene. Outbuildings, garden wall and boundary wall are included for
