Church, now warehouse. 1870-81. By JP St Aubyn. Squared Red Pennant rubble, rubble and limestone dressings, ashlar stacks and tiled roof with decorative ridge tiles. Cruciform plan with NW chapel built on the site of the proposed tower, chancel and aisled nave. Decorated Gothic Revival style. A tall, coped E gable has a large 5-light window with Decorated tracery, and angle buttresses; 4-light N transom window; 4-bay nave has 2-light windows separated by buttresses and short 3-light clerestory windows; chapel in the W bay with deep, truncated buttresses and an arched doorway of 4 orders with a blind traceried tympanum. An inserted late C20 tall, garage doorway with a flat rubble arch in the third bay. Similar S elevation has flying buttresses projecting from the S transept across open arched doorways, and pairs of triple lancets below the aisle windows, those to the W of the transept either side of a doorway with strap hinges. Gabled W end has a deep 2-centred arched doorway with 5 orders set in a shallow gable between 2 buttresses, with a trumeau with a banded granite shaft, 2 shouldered doorways to doors with strap hinges and a blank tympanum; above is a large 12-light wheel window, and a gable finial. INTERIOR: encaustic tiles and marble steps in chancel, pointed arches to transepts, and a large chancel arch; 4-bay nave has short round shafts to moulded, pointed arches and a raised floor; crown-post double rafter roof with 2 tiers of wind bracing and inverted cone corbels; inserted C20 steel-framed first floor in the nave.
