Created for page 26 of a Norham Castle guidebook. The two dagger sheaths illustrated to the left of the sheet were excavated at Norham Castle, and the larger sheath to the right was found at Pevensey Castle. The two sheaths from Norham Castle are decorated with a foliate pattern, and the right-hand sheath of the two shown still containing the remains of a dagger, the tang of which can be seen protruding from the top of the sheath. The Pevensey Castle dagger sheath has a more richly-patterned exterior, comprising of a diamond-patterning with fleur-de-lys motifs.
