TQ 3080 SW CITY OF WESTMINSTER WHITEHALL SW1 83/56 (East side) 5.2.70 Whitehall House (Nos 41 and 43) GV II Offices and chambers. 1904 by Treadwell and Martin. Stone faced, slate.

Distinctive Free Style Jacobethan - late Gothic typical of the partnership, with strong vertical emphasis, in a manner developing the lead given by Wilson and Townsend. 6 storeys and attic. 3 windows wide. Altered shop front to ground floor with 4-centred arched doorway to left. 3-storeyed mullioned-transomed oriel with leaded casements to centre,above which is a large tripartite mullioned window, with traceried arches to side lights, under deeply moulded segmental arch beneath eaves. The flanking bays, with cross-mullioned leaded windows, are defined by prominent, sharply profiled mullion-piers rising as finials above the twuast, tower-like, stages which have bowed, pierced work, corbelled balconettes on 2 sides and pyramidal roofs. The steep main roof has dormer and crowning,octagonal,louvred lantern with coppered spirelet and weathervane.
