AUSTWICK HOLM LANE SD 76 NE (north side 8/22 Harden - II House. Mid-C18 with C17 origins and mid-C19 alterations. Strap pointed rubble to lower storey, pebbledash to upper storey, stone dressings, stone slate roof.

U plan. 2 storeys, 4 bays with left-hand gabled extension added in mid-C19.

Formerly central entrance has moulded surround; 7 panel door, top panel glazed, internal strap hinges. 4 windows per storey, cavetto surrounds except where ground floor windows have been deepened; 15 pane sashes to ground floor, sashes to upper floor. Upper floor dripmould. Extreme left-hand bay has ground floor canted bay window, sashes with glazing bars. Upper floor window has sashes with glazing bars. Decorated bargeboards to gable. 2 ridge stacks, and massive projecting C17 stack in right-hand gable end. In right-hand wing is reset date- stone inscribed CB/1674. Interior inglenook fireplace now concealed. In right- hand wing is mid C18 fireplace with decorated imitation keystone. Closed string staircase, turned balusters and ramped handrail. Originally dower-house to Lawkland Hall (qv).
